The incredible efforts from NHS staff, local partners and volunteers across Cheshire and Merseyside have been celebrated, as the first anniversary of the biggest vaccination programme in history was marked this month.
In the 12 months since the programme started on 8 December 2020, more than 4.5 million doses have been given in Cheshire and Merseyside – including first and second doses and booster jabs.
People have been jabbed at GP practices, pharmacies, hospital hubs, vaccination centres, schools and community buildings, as well as a range of mobile sites at locations ranging from zoos to national rugby and Premier League football matches… and even on the bus!
Thanks to the huge commitment from everyone involved, including those who have had the vaccine, it is estimated around 20,000 lives have been saved across the North West
